Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama, Gangubai Kathiawadi with Alia Bhatt in lead, has showed a big jump of nearly 25 to 30% on Saturday as early estimates suggest collections in the range of Rs. 13.00 to 13.40 crore. The jump has taken the two-day total of this film to Rs. 23.50 crore plus and now the platform is set for it to explode on Sunday.
Gangubai Kathiawadi will be targeting an opening weekend of Rs. 37 to 40 crores, and this will be a fantastic result for this Alia Bhatt starrer. The film has shown a universal jump on Saturday, with both metros and interiors showing a respectable jump in collections. While the national chains have gone up by 35 to 37 percent, the non-national chains have gone up by 10 to 15 percent with a total jump thereby averaging out at 25%.
The movie is made on an exorbitant budget, of which more than Rs. 100 crores have already been recovered from the sale of satellite and digital rights. The film needs a global share of Rs. 65 crores to break even, which means that a nett total of Rs. 100 crore will suggest a hit verdict. This is considering that overseas brings in a total share of at-least Rs. 25 crore. An overall worldwide share of Rs. 75 crore will mean a hit verdict, whereas a share of Rs. 65 crore will be average grosser.
The hold in collections on Monday and trend going ahead will determine the hit verdict for this film.
