Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra's slice-of-life comedy, Thank God is a disappointing fare at the box office in India. After collecting Rs. 14.10 crore over the first two days, Thank God has collected in the range of Rs. 4.00 to 4.50 crores on its third day, taking the total collection to Rs. 18.10 crore. These are low numbers and seem even lower for a Diwali release. The drop from the previous day is around 25%
The numbers are low across the country, the film has failed to get footfalls even in a comedy-friendly market like Gujarat and Rajasthan. The film has been below the mark primarily due to a lack of interest in the audience. The conventional weekend begins tomorrow and now, the task for Thank God will be to reach as high as possible on the box office front.
The race to half-century begins tomorrow and the movie needs to show no drop in collections on Friday, followed by a 30 percent jump each on Saturday and Sunday to have a shot at Rs. 50 crore lifetime. Thank God clashed with Ram Setu, and even if we were to take this into account, the numbers are below the mark. It should have targeted a bare minimum figure of Rs. 25 crores in 3 days.
The film is faring best in some pockets of CP and CI, followed by Gujarat and Rajasthan. The numbers in these markets are benefiting from the prolonged Diwali Holiday period.
