Pathaan Box Office: Shah Rukh Khan starrer breaks further records, is highest grossing Bollywood film post pandemic in just 5 days

It was back in January 2020 when Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior had released and emerged as a huge blockbuster by registering a score of Rs. 280 crores. It had seemed like the year was off to a rollicking note after a record breaking 2019 which had seen over Rs. 4400 crores been generated by Hindi films at the box office. However, soon enough pandemic struck and the business of Bollywood came to a standstill. It was a sad and non-happening 2020 and it was only 20 months later when Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi struck and revived Bollywood with a score of Rs. 197 crores. Things moved only sporadically post that as well, and though there were blockbusters like The Kashmir Files, Drishyam 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 arriving intermittently, the collections could still not reach anywhere close to Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior as far as Bollywood releases are concerned. Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra tried and while it was quite good at Rs. 264 crores, one wondered whether there would be a film that will eventually arrive and take a march which further ahead. Well, thankfully that has happened and that too in style with Pathaan. The film has been roaring business all over and that was evidenced on Sunday as well when the collections continued to be on an overdrive. With family audiences further stepping in for the film at a record 5500 odd screens where it’s currently playing, the collections went past the Rs. 60 crores mark. With Rs. 63 crores* coming in, the film has touched a score of Rs. 283 scores* and that too in just its extended weekend. As a result, the Shah Rukh Khan led film is now the highest grossing Bollywood film post pandemic. There are many more huge records that would be broken by the film in days to come, and to begin with lifetime of several Rs. 300 Crore Club blockbusters would be history with every passing day. All time mega blockbuster. *Estimates. Final numbers awaited Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
