Akshay Kumar on OMG 2: First adult film made for teenagers

Akshay Kumar, whose latest film OMG 2 released this week, in a recent video described it as the first “adult film made for teenagers.” It should be noted that the Central Board of Film Certification gave an A certificate to the film, a rarity for an Akshay film.

The makers of the film dropped a video which shows Akshay visiting a theatre and interacting with the audience after the film’s screening. He asks the viewers, “Kaisi lagi aap logo ko movie? (How did you find the film?)”, adding, “Pehli adult film hai jo teenagers ke liye bani hai. Actually yeh sab schools mein dikhani chahiye, lekin aap sab entertain huye nah? Bahut acha laga, bahut-bahut shukriya aap log aye dekhne (This is the first adult film made for teenagers. Actually, this should be shown in all schools. Did you guys get entertained or not? It felt very nice to see all of you come to watch the film. Thank you so much.)”

It was reported earlier this month that the Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar starrer has been granted an A certificate by CBFC. This made OMG 2, Akshay’s first film in 12 years to get an ‘A’ certificate. His last film to get an adult certificate was Desi Boyz (2012) in which he starred alongside John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh.

Directed by Amit Rai, OMG 2 is a spiritual sequel of the 2012 film OMG—Oh My God!. It also stars Yami Gautam and released in theatres on August 11. The film tells the story of Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi), a Shiva devotee, whose son gets suspended from school over an “immoral” act. He soon realises that his son was misinformed and misguided and then he decides to sue the school instead.
