Gulshan Devaiah, Amit Sadh and Drashti Dhami starrer mystery-thriller series Duranga will have its second season come out on October 24. While the series’ first season was directed by Pradeep Sarkar and Aijaz Khan, season 2 will be helmed by Rohan Sippy. The show has been created and produced by Goldie Behl.
Talking about the series, Goldie spoke about his journey and his vision of creating the second season. Excerpts:
How would you describe the second season of the series?
Season 2 has a lot of original stories which have been adapted to an Indian context. Adding the whole Amit Sadh track into the story about the past catching up in a more physical fashion, has made it a far more compelling story. We have activated all sides of the story, scoring it into a more 360-degree aspect, and gone into areas which are generally left unexplored.
How did you ensure that the sequel maintains the essence and appeal of the first season while offering something fresh?
Well, the characters are the same. They have just gone through the whole experience of season one. The edge-of-the-seat feeling is very similar, but we have explored more dynamics that we can go into. Also, with Rohan Sippy (the director) coming on board, he has brought in his own style and approach to execution.
With so many OTT shows/ films dropping every week, how do you think Duranga 2 will stand out?
First and foremost, it's a story that is not regularly told. It explores different aspects of human relationships and the duality of man, whether it is Amit's character, Gulshan's character, or even Drashti's duality to a certain extent. I think that by itself, the performances are very engaging and exciting. Also, the format is unique, it has a very cinematic appeal. The storytelling has the classic two-hero face-off format, which I don't think I've seen very often on OTT.
