Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki has opened to a lukewarm response on the box office. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial could only make Rs 30 crore on day 1 (Thursday) of its release, as per industry tracker Sacnilk, which is meagre in comparison to the opening day collections of SRK's other releases this year: Pathaan (Rs 57 crore) and Jawan (Rs 75 crore).
Dunki's first day collection was also below Adipurush which raked in Rs 36 crore on first day but it was still better than those delivered by Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 15.81 crore), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 15.73 crore), Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 11.1 crore) and Dream Girl 2 (Rs 10.69 crore).
Dunki had a solo release on Thursday, but on Friday, the film will have to face off against Prashanth Neel’s Salaar, starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran among others.
Written by Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon, Dunki also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover.
